Gastric Sleeve | February 2015 My Life Before Bariatric Surgery My life before surgery was marked with negativity. There were the frustrations of seat belts and clothing not fitting; the embarrassment of remarks by people about my size; the lack of energy to play with my kids and do basic household chores; and all of this was interspersed with mood swings and depression. |
Making the Decision: The decision for me was simple. It was time to take back my life and get back my emotional and physical health.
My Barix Clinics Experience: I can’t say enough positive things about Barix Clinics. The staff was professional and courteous. My stay was comfortable and a lot easier than expected. I was extremely nervous in pre-op and my surgeon and anesthesiologist put me at ease. My anesthesiologist had been a Marine, same as me, and he put my worries about the surgery to rest.
How My Life Has Changed: It’s incredible! Six weeks after surgery, I started to do Cross Fit at a local gym. I was so out of shape that I could barely do any of the exercises. With perseverance and a no-quit attitude, I started to excel. In October of 2015, I competed in my first Cross Fit competition in the 40 to 45 age group and took 2nd place.
My life is completely different now I am active and enjoying life like never before.
To Those Considering Bariatric Surgery: Stop making excuses and do it. You will never regret it.
