Gastric Bypass | 2012 “Work has become easier for me.” Weight loss surgery was the best choice for me. I’m thankful that a co-worker recommended Barix Clinics. They were great! After losing 170#, I can respond to emergency calls without becoming breathless. |
I Was Having a Hard Time Doing My Job
It seemed that I was always tired and out of breath. I am a corrections officer and regularly respond to emergencies. My weight made my job difficult and I was not in good physical shape to help out my co-workers when emergency response was needed.
I Wanted a Better Future
I was never diagnosed with any major health issues before my surgery. I was 38 years old. I knew if I continued on the path I was on, I was headed for a lifetime of medical problems.
I’d Lose Weight Only to Gain it Back
I tried a lot of diets. I’d lose some weight, only to gain it, and a little extra, back again. I wasn’t getting anywhere so I started to check into weight loss surgery. When a co-worker recommended Barix Clinics, I called and scheduled a consultation.
The Consultation was Helpful
During the consultation, a thorough explanation of what to expect throughout the entire process was provided. My doctor described the surgery options and the pros and cons of each. I chose the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass because of the information I received at that meeting.
My Care was Top-Notch and Non-judgmental
Everyone at Barix Clinics was great. They were non-judgmental. The nurses were great during my stay at the hospital–always willing to help and encourage me while I was there.
Now, I’m Running Easy
Since I have lost the excess weight, I’m better able to respond to emergencies at work. I’m not completely out of breath when running to break-up fights and work has become easier for me.
I’ve competed in 2 sprint triathlons (1/4 mile swim, 15 mile bike and 3.1 mile run).
I am happier with my looks and am able to do a lot more with my grandchildren.
The Bottom Line
I have no regrets about having the surgery. I wish I would have done it sooner and would do it again in a heartbeat. It was the best choice for me.
