Gastric Bypass | 2015 My Life Before Bariatric Surgery My life before surgery was no life at all. I didn’t have a healthy lifestyle. I didn’t exercise or eat healthy food and because of that, my health was rapidly declining. I was missing out on all of the wonderful things this world has to offer. I swore that if I took this second chance at life, I would live it to the fullest. |
Making the Decision
Some might say there wasn’t one particular reason why they chose to have surgery, but I can remember the exact moment. It was my niece’s kindergarten graduation. My husband and I took a picture with her, and when I saw that picture, I started crying. I couldn’t believe that I had let myself get to that point and not realize it. It was time for a change!
My Barix Clinics Experience
My experience at Barix was nothing short of amazing! The doctors and staff are so kind, and they made me feel so wonderful about my decision. They were right there any time I needed anything. I am certain that the staff is the reason my recovery went so smoothly. They were all so caring and compassionate.
How My Life Has Changed
Since having gastric bypass, my life has been so fulfilling. I feel as though I’m finally living, and not just existing. I absolutely love cooking and eating healthy food. I exercise regularly, and I’ve actually started to run! I no longer have sleep apnea, I don’t have shortness of breath when I walk up the stairs, and let’s not get me started on how much fun shopping is now! I went from a size 24/3X, to a size 11/S/M shirts.
I have taken full advantage of this second chance at life and do lots of things I wouldn’t have been able to do before the weight loss. I’ve gone zip-lining, hiked up a mountain, and ran 2-5K’s. But I think my favorite accomplishment is gaining my confidence back. I’ve finally learned to love myself. I may have lost 114lbs, but I gained a second chance at life.
To Someone Considering Bariatric Surgery
This is in no way the “easy way out.” It takes hard work and dedication. This journey you take is an emotional roller coaster to say the least. But if you stick to the plan, eat healthy, exercise regularly, and keep a positive attitude, there is absolutely no way to fail. It was and will always be the best decision I’ve ever made. The only regret I have is that I didn’t do it sooner.
